The Membership

Members of this club are known as green jackets. To become a green jacket, it is rumored that you will have to pay a membership fee of anywhere between $100,000 and $300,000. You will only be able to become a member of the National if you are invited by an active member. Around ten years ago, two female members were accepted into the Augusta National, changing its state from an all-male club for the first time in history.

Aside from the initiation fee, members also have annual dues to pay, and these aren’t small either. It is said that you will have to pay around $30,000 in annual dues. New members are literally handed a green jacket, that they will have to wear especially during golf tournaments. If you don’t use the jacket, you will have to return it to the club. The only ones that can keep their jackets are the Masters winners, who will be able to keep their jackets for a limited time, before being required to also hand them back to the club.

Green Fee – Base Fee

An estimation from 2020 said that the green fee you are required to pay on the Augusta National course is around $350. This fee is expected only outside of the Masters, because during the Masters tournament it will get closer to $500.

Is Augusta National Public or Private?

Seeing that membership to Augusta National is only possible via an invite, the club is considered private. And considering that the club featured members like former US presidents, it is obvious that it wouldn’t be freely available without proper vetting.
